Kurtz Brothers
Kurtz Bros. has been in business since 1894, when twenty-year-old Charles T. Kurtz opened a small stationary store and print shop in downtown Clearfield. In 1911 the first factory building was constructed on Reed Street, the present site of the Kurtz Bros. Main Office.
Throughout the years, Kurtz Bros. has expanded into commercial printing, paper converting, distributing a full line of school supplies, and advertising specialties. Expansion of the company’s buildings continued in the 1960’s when a warehouse building was purchased at the edge of town and all school supply storage and shipping was moved to the new site.
Our 800+ page School Supplies catalog contains over 20,000 items, and is the most widely recognized by schools throughout our region.
In September 1999 the remaining Kurtz family members sold their shares of ownership to the employees, and Kurtz Bros. became an employee-owned company with Robert Kurtz, Jr. continuing as Chairman of the Board.
Even while modern times have necessitated many changes, and a large portion of our orders are now received through the internet, we still conduct business ‘the old fashioned way’ and honor the heritage established by the Kurtz family.
