From the Director...
A notice to all area businesses:
It has come to my attention that a woman is calling area businesses stating that the Chamber of Commerce is putting a Clearfield map together and that she needs ad or artwork approval and may even try to get your credit card information over the phone. DO NOT GIVE HER ANY INFORMATION.
To be clear, the Chamber has recently wrapped up advertising sales for our new membership directory with Hampton Publishing and we are not putting a new map together at this time. Please do not purchase any advertising from anyone stating that they are working with the Chamber at this time. If in the future we would offer advertising opportunities and create a new Clearfield map, Chamber members would first be notified by me through a letter making you aware of the project and give you the name of the person that will be contacting you regarding advertising. No one will ever call you without first being notified of the project.
Speaking of our newest membership directory, it is in its final stages of proofing and will soon go to print. This exciting, full color publication will include information about the Chamber and some of our exciting events, helpful community facts, easy to read information about Clearfield and Curwensville's quality of life, our advantageous location, superb education, positive business climate, real estate, and recreation. All current Chamber Members are included in the alphabetical and categorical businesses listings at no charge, so when an overnight traveler stays at a local hotel or someone new is moving to town or even when you, a reader of The Progress, needs to find a reputable contractor, they all can pick up a copy of this great directory and find the information they need.
More information should be available soon as to when the membership directory will be available, but be looking for it! And if you have any questions regarding the potential map scam please contact us at 765-7567.
The new Chamber Gift Checks are now available at the Chamber Office. Gift Checks are just like gift certificates but are honored by over 80 local businesses. They’re a great way to keep business local and provide an answer to your tough gift-giving problems, like Christmas! Available in any denomination.
OLD GLASSES GIVE NEW LIFE! The Chamber is still a drop-off point for the Lions Recycle for Sight program. Drop off your used prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses, and the Lions Club will ship them to the nearest Eyeglass Recycling Center where trained volunteers sort, clean, determine the prescription strengths of the glasses and distribute them to mission sites where eye care professionals perform vision screenings and dispense the glasses, free of charge, to needy children and adults around the world.
Your Clearfield Chamber is now a drop-off point for the new Clearfield Hospital Hospice program, Flowers for Friends. Every Thursday, volunteers create arrangements with donated flowers and vases and deliver them to hospice patients in our area. Drop off your used or new vases at the Chamber, and we will make sure they are forwarded each week to be used in the program. Brighten someone’s day with flowers!
Clearfield Chamber is offering member to member discount cards exclusively to our members and their employees. Stop by the office to pick up yours.
The 2010 American Cancer Society Golf Pass is available. Golfers receive free or special discounts at over 100 PA golf courses and support a great cause at the same time. Passes are $30.00 each and are good for the 2010 season.
